THE START OF A NEW ERA With the departure of trombonist Kevin Grenfell and Pete Ainge, our trumpeter for the past 13 years, it would seem a shame that a band that has given so much pleasure and entertainment over the years to audiences in this country and further afield should be allowed to fade away when our brand of jazz still brings pleasure to many. Accordingly, our bassist, Roger Heath, has taken over the day-to-day running of the band, bringing in the Birmingham brass duo of Tony Pipkin on trumpet and Ron Hills, trombone, to assist in filling the missing gaps, together with regular members Mike Hayler on reeds, Pete 'Pedro' Robinson, banjo and guitar, and drummer Nick Millward. New musicians bring new ideas, new numbers and a fresh vitality to a band, with perhaps a new slant on the style of music. However, what will not change is the happy, entertaining brand of jazz for which the Heart of England has always been known. We hope we can look forward to your continued support for many years to come. Click on the menu bar to the left to see the rest of our website - new content will be added shortly. |
